2025 Knysna Oyster Festival dates announced
The festival steering committee has announced the dates for the 2025 Knysna Oyster Festival which will take place from 4 – 13 July 2025. The Knysna Forest Marathon will be on the first weekend (4 & 5 July), and the Knysna Cycle Tour on the second (11-12 July).
Knysna Executive Mayor, Aubrey Tsengwa said that the festival’s main objective is to stimulate the winter economy and that the 2024 event exceeded their expectations. “NightsBridge statistics show that 2024 arrivals during the 10 days were getting closer to pre-Covid figures. They recorded 2 700 online booking arrivals in Knysna this year – 800 more than in 2023 and only 200 less than in 2019. In addition, the events and organising committee spent R4,76 million on local suppliers and businesses, and donations to local charities and NPOs topped R450 000.
“The festival sponsors played a crucial role in the event’s success. Their support is highly appreciated and I once again want to thank Food Lover’s Market, Standard Bank, Wesgro, SANParks, Western Cape Government, Blue Planet Power, Knysna Municipality, Visit Knysna, and Algoa FM,” said Cllr Tsengwa.
The spokesperson for the festival Lungiswa Goya again thanked everyone who supported the festival this year, participated in events, and for the patience shown by festivalgoers with the various road closures.
“We look forward to building on this year’s successes with an even bigger and better festival in 2025.”
